About

After vagabonding through a couple of industries I ended up in the vast jungle of possibilities also referred to as IT. I was hooked, since the first moment I got my hands on a computer and seeing what I could do with it. I remember vividly modding the game GTA, fitting it with other cars and being able to change the parameters of the game so the golfcart could outpreform anything in the game. Good times. After couple of fruitful years in the audio industry I needed to move on. IT has always been a good fit for me so there was no real question where to go next. After some time in the field I find myself optimistic about what my future is going to bring. Losing a sence of time everytime I endulge myself deeper in one of its many facets.

Experience

It Consultant // Van Roey

Nordex
Role

Master Data Officer

Day-to-day

I have been honored and privileged to have worked in a variety of disciplines and environments over the course of my career. I used to think that terms that are readily thrown around like "core values" or "brand DNA" are just simple buzzwords that are all made up by marketeers to make their work seem more important than it actually is. In essence, we all want the same thing, more, bigger and better, all the rest is just means to an end, right? Although in some cases this is the truth I have revisited this opinion and admittedly have to conclude there is more to this game of buzzword bingo than would seem at first glance.

During my time at Nordex I can feel its DNA and the sense that it houses an identity that transcends the individuals that work there. This Nordex “DNA” is, as I see it, the extreme extent to which they will go to customize a product to make it fit the client's wishes. All this is, of course, without any compromise on the quality. One other thing that is deeply rooted is the knowledge and skill on how to make that highly customized product effectively.

This fragmentation of knowledge is what I was called in to help address. As the world turns more digital every day even a company that has no core business in IT needs to invest heavily in it to run its operations. There was a need for a single solution that would incorporate the whole process from sales to manufacturing to delivery.

My responsibility was to help build the sales side that is tightly incorporated in the ERP. The big challenge here lies in this flexibilty, this DNA. Defining the endless possibilities is an ongoing process of unraveling the organically spun complexity that has wound up over the years.

It Consultant // Cheops technologies

Entso-E
Role

Support Engineer

Day-to-day

Being the sole contact point for anything even remotely related to IT can transform you into somewhat of a guru in the eyes of some people. I had the pleasure - most of the time - of somewhat fulfilling this role at Entso-e with users consulting me for any and every problem that that had a digital component to it. Sometimes my role consisted of bringing moral support by just being near the room where a presentation or conference call was happening.

It Consultant // Cheops technologies

Digipolis Antwerpen
Role

Support Engineer

Day-to-day

This was my first taste of the life in IT. A big company in charge of all the IT infrastructure of the city's services. Libraries, schools, swimming pools, social centers, waste recycling centers, city hall and other municipal centers. My job was manning the phones, solve what you can on a best effort basis or escalate to other, more specialized divisions. Quickly you become a part of a machine that crunches through the ‘tickets’. I realized very quickly that this batch processing approach was not my cup of tea, but learned to think in terms of solutions very quickly.

Technical Responsibilities
  • 1ste line support
  • Escalating problems

Audio Freelancer

AGeNT Studios Brussels
Role

Mix Technician

Day-to-day

Somewhat in between of a boutique and big facility, AGeNT was greatly shaped after the vision of its owner Alek Goose. A ringing name in the audio industry and a man who I have a great deal of respect for. He relentlessly spent late hours fine tuning even the minutest of details. But the results would speak for themselves. My part was to the prep the different edit, foley and mix rooms. Communicate and organise sessions together with the clients and keep everybody working on the same version of the picture edits.

  • Technical maintanance studios

Audio Freelancer

Cinenumerique Antwerp
Role

Sound Editor

Day-to-day

Located in ‘het Eilandje’, a very cozy part located at the north side of Antwerp. We did the full post production, both audio and video, for the TV series ‘Trollie’. Having the both disciplines working under the same roof does have the added benefits of direct communication and is very influential for creative decision making. For the director it was a dream to be able to have a one stop shop for his entire project.

Technical Responsibilities
  • Sound Editing
  • Discussing sound story with production and director
September 2015 - December 2015

Mix Technician

Galaxy Studios Mol
Role

Assistant Re-Recording Engineer

Day-to-day

While growing up it was always a dream of mine to call myself a Galaxy Studio employee. The no compromise, state of the art facility is everything you could wish for if you are interested in audio engineering. When i got the phone call that i could start my 3 month internship, I knew that I was going to give it 110% and try my best to get a full time position there. The effort paid off and i was offered a position as a full time studio runner, I gladly accepted the offer. From there on I was able to gain more and more responsibilities until I eventually got the promotion to be an assistant re-recording engineer. My office was one of the most impressive, innovative, film mixing stages in the world. The floor at the entrance had a dent in it from all the jaws dropping. Besides the all futuristic bells and whistles, Galaxy studios was an amazing group of people, people who were led there because they had a passion worth pursuing.

    Interests

On the rare occasions im not actually thinking of, learning how too or actually building some sort of app. I can really relax by spending quality time with my girlfriend or walking my overweight, spoiled labrador.

Other occassions I do catch up on what the cool kids are watching on Netflix and have found myself devouring endless hours on Spotify.
